Alex competed at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships on a slippery course at the Fort Vancouver National Historical Site in Washington. A second-year freshman (due to COVID-19) from Lubbock, Alex had what coach Brian Whitlock called “probably the best race of the day for our kids” as he placed 54^th out of 333 runners with a time of 26 minutes, 12 seconds. Alex improved 29 places from last year when he was 83^rd.
 
“Alex flirted with that all-American spot (top 40),” Whitlock said. “He’ll continue to have a good career going forward. He’s a good guy to build a team around.”
