Ryan captured first place and helped lead the Pioneers to the team championship at the fall season-opening Samuel Proal Insurance Wolf Pack Invitational held Sept. 8-9 in Pueblo, Colo.  Ryan shot rounds of 65, 71 and 68 at Walking Stick Golf Club for a tournament record 12-under 204 and a four-shot victory. The junior from England posted 17 birdies over his three rounds to lead the field and  also tied for first in par-3 scoring (-1) and par-4 scoring (-4).Coach Tom Harp: "He played solid, steady, quality golf. He seems so calm and relaxed, no matter what happens. He got it to 2-under (in the third round) and then went out-of-bounds on No. 7 and made a double-bogey. The next hole is a difficult, long par-3. I think Ryan hit a 4-iron to within five feet and makes his putt for birdie. Talk about bounce-back after adversity! He doesn't dwell on mistakes. He knows he's going to make birdies and that he doesn't need to panic. I think that attitude can lead a team." Harp said Connolly's cool demeanor is rubbing off on the rest of the Pioneers, who shot rounds of 283, 286 and 277 for a dominating 19-stroke victory.
