In fifth-ranked Wayland's season-opening dual against No. 2-ranked Oklahoma City, Tarkyia won her match in the 130-pound weight class. Ranked fifth by WCWA in 123s, Tarkyia took a 9-3 decision over OCU's Carla Ponce, a personal rival who had beaten her twice previously.
