Pierre, a sophomore from the Bahamas, broke Wayland's longest-standing indoor record in the 600-yard run at the Gorilla Classic. Pierre ran a time of 1 minute, 9.76 seconds to break the record of 1:09.85 set in 1985 by Olympic silver medalist Devon Morris. "Anytime you're up in that company (with Morris) it's a good thing," Coach Brian Whitlock said.
