Travis came up big in the Pioneers’ 26-20 conference-opening road win over Bacone. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound junior defensive back from Krum intercepted two passes, the last one a diving pick in Wayland's end zone with seven seconds left in the game. White's other INT in the second quarter also came in the Pioneer end zone to prevent a TD. He also logged a pair of pass breakups, two solo tackles and a couple of assisted stops. He was named Central States Football League Defensive Player of the Week. Coach Butch Henderson called White's final interception a great play. "It's not like it was a bad throw. It was a matter of great coverage and making a big play." The coach praised White's overall performance as well. "Besides the two interceptions, he had three or four other big plays. He had a couple of knockdowns when we had to go one-on-one in the secondary. He played well." White's four interceptions on the season rank third in the NAIA.
