Jade turned in one of the greatest performances in the storied history of the Flying Queens on Saturday in Hutcherson Center, scoring 46 points in a 100-72 win over 18th-ranked John Brown University. After missing Thursday’s game with an injured foot (and still wearing a protective boot off the court), Jade made 21-of-29 field goals and 4-of-5 free throws in coming within three points of matching the all-time single-game scoring record of 49 points held by Sharla Harrison, the program’s all-time leading scorer. Jade had a chance to go for the record but dribbled the last few seconds off the clock. Jade, whose previous career-best was 27 points earlier this season against Sul Ross State, also tied for the team-lead in rebounds with nine plus had five assists and a block. Coach Alesha Robertson-Ellis: “Jade came out red-hot and had an amazing game! I was really proud of her and her teammates. Knowing it was a big game, Jade came ready to play and stepped up to the challenge. She ran the floor well, let the game come to her and made smart decisions. Her teammates did a nice job of getting her the ball, and Jade did a nice job of using her strengths.” The Queens (12-2), ranked the equivalent of 27th, have won seven straight games.
