At the prestigious Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., where Wayland was the only NAIA team competing aganist a host of NCAA Division I schools, Turner finished second in the 200 meters, finishing 1/100th of a second behind an athlete from Ohio State with a time of 20.97 seconds. That bettered his own school record set last year at the NAIA Championships and is the NAIA's fastest time of the season. The senior from West Sacramento, Calif., also placed third in the 60 meters with a time of 6.74, missing another school record (one that has stood for eight years) by 1/100th of a second. He placed third in the event with the NAIA's second-fastest time this season. He also owns the eighth fastest time in the NAIA in the 400.
