After her first meet of the season, Silvia as recognized as Sooner Athletic Conference Women's Runner of the Week.  A junior from El Paso, Silvia was honored after finishing eighth out of 100 runners at the season-opening Texas Tech Open. She finished the 5-kilometer course at Lubbock Christian University's Chaparral Ridge Golf Course in 18 minutes, 54 seconds. Silvia,  competing as her team's No. 1 runner for the first time, and the sixth-ranked Pioneers finished second out of 10 teams.
