A 5-foot-6 senior guard from El Paso, Ruben last week led the Pioneers to a pair of convincing wins over top-20 teams. In a 96-74 victory over No. 20 USAO, he scored a game-high 15 points plus had nine assists, three rebounds, two steals and only one turnover. In a 75-55 win over No. 12 Mid-America Christian, Ruben again led the team in scoring with 16 points along with five assists, five rebounds and a steal. In the two games, he was 9-of-15 from the field, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range, and made 8-of-9 free throws. Then on Monday in a 94-74 win over Panhandle State, Ruben scored nine points with five assists, three rebounds and a steal. The Pioneers improved from No. 21 to No. 11 in the NAIA Top 25. Coach Ty Harrelson: "Ruben is playing fantastic basketball. I know his stats might not be player-of-the-week caliber, but he runs a lot of stuff and gets the ball where it needs to go when it needs to go there.”
