Chante helped Wayland to a runner-up finish at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championships at Lincoln Park Golf Club in Oklahoma City. The Pioneers opened the tournament by shooting 303, the program’s best score in three years that gave them a two-shot lead over 17th-ranked and tournament host Oklahoma City University. Wayland followed that with a 310 and ended up in second place, 12 shots behind OCU.
Chante, a freshman from South Africa, placed second, a single shot behind OCU junior Melissa Eldredge, a two-time all-American. The two were tied for the lead after opening 71s, which marked a career-best in the U.S. for Chante, Boosted by an eagle on the 13th hole in round two, Chante held a one-shot lead until a double-bogey on the next-to-last hole. She wound up shooting a 72 for a 1-under total of 143.
Chante earned all-tournament honors and was named all-conference first team.
