Prudence, a freshman from Kenya, qualified for the NAIA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a “B” standard in the 5,000 meters at the Alumni Muster hosted by Texas A&M University. Prudence ran a time of 17 minutes, 49.98 seconds to place third.
"I'm proud of Prudence. She's had to overcome a lot of adversity. From being in a new country to having to have her ball bladder removed and then dealing with anemia, it's been tough on her” coach Brian Whitlock said. “Three weeks ago she couldn't finish a workout, but we think we finally got things figured out. She's taking vitamins and iron pills and getting back to being the runner we thought she could be. Another month and she might be able to score (at nationals) and be a difference for us."
