Lucius, a senior from Mesquite, qualified for the national meet in the 1,500 meters at the Oklahoma Baptist University Last Chance Meet. Lopez turned in a time of 3 minutes, 35.49 seconds to just meet the "B" qualifying standard by 1/100th of a second. He finished fourth out of 13 runners. Lopez also ran the 800, finishing eighth out of 15 with a time of 1:57.21.
