Box Score The Pioneers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 62-54 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State. Four players reached the double figure mark for the WBU men, led by
Teddy Chambers with 13 points. Chambers also pulled down nine rebounds.
Wayland jumped out to a 34-25 halftime advantage, and then held the Rangers to 29 percent shooting in the second period. The Pioneers hit 13 of 18 free throws in the final 20 minutes. NWOSU had just six chances at the charity stripe in the second half.
Johnny Terra added 11 points and seven boards for WBU, Rene Farias came off the bench to contribute 10 points and six boards, and Jason Griffin scored 10.
The Pioneers out-scored the Rangers 26-18 in the paint, won the battle of the boards, 42-36, and converted 15 offensive rebounds into 18 second chance points.
Tyrone Crawford recorded three of the 11 WBU steals and dished out three assists.
The Wayland men will try to make it two in a row on Thursday night when they host #2 Rogers State University at 8 p.m.
