Defense Responds in Second Half

The Wayland women held visiting John Brown scoreless in the final period, but three goals in the first 29 minutes of the match gave the Golden Eagles a 3-0 victory.

Staci Long and Roxy Pasley got the only two shots on goal for the Pioneers, both in the opening period.  Florencia Oliver recorded the lone shot of the second half for WBU, which fell to 2-8 on the season and 0-3 against Sooner Athletic Conference competition.

Sarah Kidd had two of the three JBU goals to help the 6-4 Golden Eagles remain unbeaten in conference play at 3-0.  The visitors put 13 of their 22 shots on goal.

WBU freshman goalkeeper Shelby Ohler made 10 saves in the game, six in the second half.  The Pioneer women are right back in action on Saturday when they host Northwestern Oklahoma State in a single game at 3 p.m.
