Box Score It was a defensive struggle from start to finish, but the #2 Oklahoma Baptist Bison kept the NAIA's longest active win streak in tact, defeating the Pioneers 72-46 on Thursday evening.
The Bison shot 52 percent from the field in both halves, but the WBU men held them to 13 points below their average per game. On the other end, the Pioneers played tentatively and ended the game hitting just 33 percent of their shots.
Jon Hurt was the only Wayland player in double figures with 10 points. He and junior Teddy Chambers pulled down eight boards each, and Hurt passed out a team-high four assists.
The Bison have now won a school-record 20 straight and are 25-2 and 18-1 on the season. Wayland falls to 14-13 overall and 6-13 in conference play.
The Pioneers will again attempt to win the 1,000 game in program history on Saturday during Homecoming festivities against St. Gregory's University. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
