SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. --- Playing before a Homecoming weekend crowd, the John Brown Lady Golden Eagles exploded for five second half goals in a 7-0 shutout victory over the Wayland Pioneers on Saturday afternoon at JBU Alumni Field.
JBU scored two goals in the first 13 and a half minutes of the opening stanza to take a 2-0 lead into the break, but Cheyenne Padgett hit the back of the net twice in the first two minutes of the final period to blow the game open.
The Pioneers were held to five shots in the contest, and only Najuka Anderson forced a save, and that was in the first 45 minutes. Emarie Holland produced two shots, with Jenee' Norris and Corita Kraemer getting credit for the others.
The home team put 17 of its 24 shots on goal. JBU improved to 7-2-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while the Pioneers fell to 2-8 and 0-4.
The Wayland women return home for a match on Wednesday with Northwestern Oklahoma State which is scheduled to begin a 3 pm.
