PLAINVIEW, Tex. --- The women's soccer team from Mid-America Christian University came into Hilliard Field on Tuesday afternoon with just one loss on the season, and unfortunately for the Wayland Baptist Pioneers, the Lady Evangels left with a 4-0 win, their 13th of the season.
The WBU women held the visitors to one goal in the opening period, but MACU took a 2-0 lead 1:45 into the second half.
Mid-America's Kassie Byrd scored her 13th and 14th goals of the season late in the period to wrap up the scoring.
MACU had a slim shot advantage over the Pioneers, 15-13. At least two of WBU's shots deflected off the posts, and numerous other chances just missed the visitor's goal.
Seniors Najuka Anderson and Roxanne Paslay each had three shots for the Wayland women, who fell to 0-7 in Sooner Athletic Conference play and 2-11 overall. The Lady Evangels are 6-1 in league action.
WBU travels to Oklahoma City on Saturday for a match against conference-leader Oklahoma City University (11-2, 6-0).
