The Wayland Baptist women's soccer team was shut out by the Lady Bison of Oklahoma Baptist, 3-0, on Saturday at a muddy Hilliard Field.
OBU scored just four minutes into the contest when Courtney Anderson put back a rebound. It was Anderson's eighth goal of the season.
The shots at the end of the first half were 7-6 in favor of Wayland. The Lady Bison outshot the Pioneers 6-4 in the final 45 minutes, however, and put two of those shots into the back of the net. The first was an unassisted goal by Rylea Wallace at the 65 minute mark, and the second came 12 minutes later by Elisa Brito on a pass from Mackenzie Bruton.
WBU put five of its 11 shots on goal. Freshman Sarah Castro and sophomore Emarie Holland led the Pioneer women with two shots each, and both forced one save a piece.
The Pioneers are now 6-5 on the season and 1-3 in conference play, while the Lady Bison improve to 4-7 and 3-1.
Wayland returns to the road next weekend with games at USAO and Mid-America Christian.
