On the heels of becoming just the fourth person in the history of Wayland Baptist women's soccer to score three goals in a match,
Jodian Morris was named Sooner Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Morris, a 5-foot junior forward from Jamaica, notched her hat trick in Wayland's 4-1 road win over St. Gregory's last Wednesday. She was credited with an assist on the Pioneers' other goal in that match for a season-high seven points.
The speedy Morris, who has a team-best five goals on the season, is the second Pioneers to earn SAC Offensive Player of the Week honors this season, following
Cerila Zamarripa on Sept. 29.
With three matches left in the regular-season, the Pioneers (4-7-2 overall, 4-1-1 SAC) stand second in the SAC standings. Wayland had won three in a row before a 0-0 double-overtime tie with John Brown University on Saturday.
The Pioneers next play in Fort Worth at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Texas Wesleyan (7-4, 3-2). They then go to Shawnee to take on league-leading Oklahoma Baptist (10-4, 5-1) on Saturday before closing out the regular-season at home on Oct. 31 against Southwestern Christian (6-7, 2-4).
