Box Score WICHITA, Kan. – Wayland Baptist's women's soccer team opened the 2016 campaign here Saturday evening and fell to Friends University, 4-0.
"We struggled tonight, even with some of the more basic things," WBU coach
Shiloh Posey said.
Friends, which also was opening its season, scored three times in the first half but only once after intermission. Four different Falcons scored.
Friends, which finished last season 11-7, outshot the Pioneers, 14-3. Shooting for Wayland were returners

Valeria Garcia. None of Wayland's attempts were on-goal, while Pioneer goalkeeper
Bailey Stengler recorded three saves.
"We are young and still putting things together," Posey said. "There were a few moments of positive movement, but we still have a lot to work on."
Wayland plays in Wichita again Sunday when they square off against Newman University beginning at 7 p.m.
"We'll get all the rest that we can and give all we have to correct our performance from tonight," Posey said. "We will continue to push to reach our full potential."
Wayland's home-opener is 6 p.m. Sept. 5 against Texas-Permian Basin.
