Wayland Baptist's women's soccer team suffered a tough loss to 21
st-ranked Our Lady of the Lake on Friday afternoon at Hilliard Field, falling 2-0.
The match started late due to lightning, and as a result was reduced to two 35-minute halves.

In the last of three consecutive home matches, Wayland (0-4-1) was outshot by San Antonio-based Our Lady of the Lake (5-2-1), 11-6. Five of OLLU's shots where on goal. and the goals for the Saints were recorded by Brooke Cousins in the first half-minute of the match and by Jackie Lambarida in the second. Cousins' eighth goal of the season came after she blocked a kick by WBU keeper
Bailey Stengler.

Stengler recorded three saves.

"We played better in the second half. We did a better job of creating opportunities for ourselves, but we need to find a way to do that from the beginning," Wayland coach
Shiloh Posey said.

Posey feels his young team struggles in the first half because they get off to a slow start. Once they learn to play in the first half the way they play in the second half, they will be more successful, he said.

"When we play like we can, we get better," Posey said.

Wayland next plays University of the Southwest (1-2) at 2 p.m. Sept. 22 in Hobbs, N.M. The Pioneers will be back in Plainview at Hilliard Field on Sept. 24 to face Paul Quinn College at 5:30 p.m.
