Moon breaks own school record with 21 saves

Box Score WAXAHACHIE – Wayland Baptist goalkeeper Erin Moon broke her own school record by recording 21 saves in the Pioneers' 4-0 regular-season loss to Southwestern Assemblies of God University here Monday afternoon.

Moon broke the old record of 17 saves set in 2003 when she tallied 19 on Oct. 14 against Science & Arts of Oklahoma. The senior eclipsed that by two on Saturday against SAGU.

The Lady Lions (11-7, 7-3 Sooner Athletic Conference) took 24 total shots. SAGU scored three goals in the first half and once in the second.

Wayland (4-12, 3-7) now sets its sights on the conference tournament. As the eighth seed, the Pioneers will hit the road to face the top-seeded team, which will be decided when No. 19 John Brown (15-2, 9-0) takes on No. 22 Science & Arts of Oklahoma (14-2-1, 9-0) at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Chickasha, Okla., with the regular-season title on the line.

The first round of the SAC Tournament will be played Friday.
