Fourth-ranked Pioneers fall to MACU, 1-0

OKLAHOMA CITY – Wayland Baptist took a dozen shots including six on-goal, but none hit home as the fourth-ranked Pioneers fell to Mid-America Christian in Sooner Athletic Conference play here Saturday afternoon, 1-0.
 
It was the first shutout for WBU (6-2, 1-1) in its last 20 matches.
 
MACU (7-1, 2-0) scored the match's lone goal with 13:23 left in the first half. Simon Van Rheeden nudged it in for his seventh goal of the season and sixth in the Evangels' last five outings.
 
Eight players took shots for the Pioneers, including three by Ricardo Ramos. Wayland's six on-target shots were by six different players.
 
WBU keeper Ziggy Camejo was credited with three saves.
 
The Pioneers will be back at home to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God (4-6-1, 1-1) at 6 p.m. Tuesday. SAGU lost to No. 20 Southwestern Christian (10-1, 2-0) on Saturday in Waxahachie, 3-0.
