One game has been cancelled and another postponed for the Wayland Baptist men's basketball team due to COVID-19 issues at opposing schools.
The Pioneers, who opened their season with a 96-52 win over Arlington Baptist last Friday, were scheduled to play second-ranked Mid-America Christian University on Thursday night in Oklahoma City. That game was cancelled due to COVID issues at MACU.
The No. 2 Flying Queens' season-opener at MACU still is scheduled to be played beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday.
Both the Flying Queens and Pioneers are scheduled to play Science & Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha at 2 and 4 p.m., respectively, Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Pioneers' home game against Our Lady of the Lake University on Nov. 12 has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues at OLLU. Officials are looking for a suitable date to reschedule that game.
It's the second time the Pioneers have had a game on Nov. 12 affected by COVID. Both the Flying Queens' and Pioneers' home games on that date against Southwestern Christian University were cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns with SCU.
The Flying Queens' will play their home-opener Nov. 14 against Central Christian College at 2 p.m., followed by the Pioneers at 4.
