Ajacia Mojica provided the lone goal as Wayland Baptist made off with a 1-0 Sooner Athletic Conference victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God University here Saturday afternoon.
The win improved Wayland to 8-4-1 on the season and 4-2-1 in the conference, keeping the Pioneers in third place. SAGU (4-9, 0-7) remained in last place.
Mojica's goal in the 57
th minute came after an assist by
Bianca Roman. It was the first goal of Mojica's two-year stint at Wayland.
The Pioneers ended with 18 shots, five more than SAGU. Ten of Wayland's shots were on-goal compared to nine for the Lady Lions.
Julie Mendoza took a team-high four shots for WBU, while
Aryial Garcia had a team-best three on-goal.
Wayland plays its final two regular-season games at home next week, first against Southwestern Christian (6-7, 2-4) at 5 p.m. Tuesday then against Oklahoma-Panhandle State (4-12, 1-7) at 5 p.m. Saturday. Saturday's game will be Senior Day.
