D'Michael Bellfield scored 15 points and
Meikkel Murray added 10 points as the Pioneers get a 20-point road victory against Southwestern Christian University (1-14, 1-12 SAC).
Wayland Baptist (14-6, 9-5 SAC jumped on the Eagles fast as they went on an 8-0 run to begin the game including 4 quick points from
Jaxon Recer. After an Eagle 3-pointer made the score 10-5, the Pioneers were able to connect on their next three shot attempts including a 3-pointer by
Brett Leach to make the score 17-7. With just over six minutes until the halftime break, the Pioneers executed another 6-0 run to push their lead to 30-17. The Pioneers took a 36-25 lead into the intermission after
Jahvonta Jones scored the final four points of the half for Wayland Baptist.
The Pioneers and Eagles traded buckets for the first five minutes of the second half, but
Bol Tong drilled a 3-pointer to keep the Pioneer lead at 11-points, 47-36. The Eagles made two free throws with just over nine minutes left in regulation, but the Pioneers got a quick response with buckets by
Tahjae Hill and Bellfield to push their lead to 58-45. With just under seven minutes remaining, Hill was able to drop a dime to Bellfield for the and-one conversion to make the score 63-46. With just under three minutes left in the game, Recer was able to create a steal that resulted in a Bellfield bucket to give the Pioneers a 72-49 lead. Wayland Baptist went on to win the contest 75-55 to get back into the win column after dropping the previous two Sooner Athletic Conference games.
D'Michael Bellfield finished with 15 points, 3 rebounds, and shot 7-10 from the floor.
Meikkel Murray scored 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Brett Leach had 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Jaxon Recer finished with 6 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and finished 3-3 from the floor in 22 minutes off the bench.
