Victoria, Texas – The Pioneers dropped the final two games of the opening weekend on the road against the University of Houston-Victoria. The final score of game one was 14-7 and the second game ended with a 7-3 score both in favor of the Jaguars.
In game one, the Pioneers scratched across two runs in the first after
Felix Polanco doubled to left and scored on an error, and
Brayden Peyton drove in a run with an RBI single. The Jaguars responded with five runs in the bottom half of the first and two runs in the bottom of the second to make the score 7-2. Polanco drove in a run in the top of the third with an RBI single that shrunk the Jaguars lead to 7-3. UHV would bounce back in the bottom of the fourth with a 2 RBI single and a 2 RBI double to make the score 11-3. With the score 14-4, the Pioneers scored 3 more runs on a 2 RBI double by
Jose Ayala and a RBI single by
Axel Guerrero. The Pioneers were unable to scratch across another run and lost 14-7 in game 1.
Felix Polanco went 2 for 3 with an RBI, a walk, and one run scored.
Brayden Peyton went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Cooper Jauz went 2 for 4 with a run scored.
Jose Ayala went 1 for 1 with 2 RBI and a run scored.
The Pioneers fell behind early 3-0 after the Jaguars after a bases loaded walk and a 2 RBI single in the first inning. After going down 6-0 and the Pioneers up to bat in the top of the 6
th, Ayala was hit by the pitch to score their first run of the game.
Samuel Fabian had an RBI single in the top of the seventh followed by a
Hans Doughtie sacrifice fly to make it 7-3. Unfortunately, the Pioneer comeback stalled there, and the Jaguars claimed a 7-3 victory.

Samuel Fabian went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Carson Parham went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a walk.
Up next for the Pioneers is a 4-game road trip against Our Lady of the Lake University. First pitch of game one of the doubleheader is set for 2:00 PM.
