Bethany, Oklahoma – The Wayland Baptist men's basketball team traveled to Bethany, OK for their first road game in Sooner Athletic Conference play. Southwestern Christian led 11-2 with 18:02 left in the half, but the Pioneer defense held SCU scoreless for a 4-minute span allowing Wayland to get back in the game. A three pointer by 
Brett Leach with 15:46 on the clock brought the Pioneers within 2 at 11-8. The Pioneers tied the score at 13-all with 12:56 remaining in the first half. From that point Wayland went on a rampage and came away with an 87-56 victory.
The second half belonged to Wayland as they outscored Southwestern Christian 46-24. In the final 20 minutes, the Pioneers made 8-11 three-point field goals (72.7%) and shot 53.5% from the field.
The Pioneers had five players score in double figures, led by 
Brett Leach with 21 points. Leach was 7 of 9 from behind the three-point line and also contributed 4 rebounds and 3 assists. 
Niko Noumeros finished with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. 
Quenton Coleman also scored 13 points along with 5 assists and 3 rebounds. 
Adeola Seun and 
Julian Perez both scored 11 points. Seun also had 7 rebounds and Perez had 4 rebounds. 
Kabine Kaba pitched in 8 points and 5 rebounds and 
Joshua Tucker had 6 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
The win gives Wayland a 5-1 record in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
The Pioneers continue their road trip Saturday when they play at Oklahoma City University. The game between the Pioneers and the Stars begins at 4:00pm.
