The Pioneer men's soccer team lost their first game of the season Saturday against Jarvis Christian 1-0.
Jarvis scored at 6:30 and made the goal stand up for the victory.
The game was very physical from the beginning with Jarvis receiving six yellow cards and two red cards while the Pioneers received one yellow and one red card.
The Pioneers were very aggressive in the second half out shooting the Bulldogs 8-1, but were unable to put one in the net. Wayland's defense remains solid as they only allowed one goal, the first goal allowed in three games.
MSOC next opponent is the University of the Southwest. The Pioneers travel to Hobbs, NM Wednesday and play at 3:00. Their next home game is Saturday, September 7 at 1:30 PM against the University of Houston-Victoria.
