Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

High-Flying Pioneers Dominate Randall to move to 4-0 on the Season

PLAINVIEW --- Wayland Baptist men's basketball extended its unbeaten start to the season with an emphatic 90-52 victory over Randall University on Monday night inside Hutcherson Center.

The Pioneers (4-0) overwhelmed the Saints (1-5) with balanced scoring, relentless rebounding, and suffocating defense, turning a modest 10-point halftime lead into a 38-point blowout by the final buzzer.

Damonze Woods anchored Wayland's dominant effort in the paint, finishing with 21 points and 10 rebounds on an efficient 10-of-12 shooting in just 23 minutes. Jordan Logan added 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, while Chuks Ejifore contributed 13 points and six boards off the bench. Daryl Bod added 11 points, two rebounds, and one devastating reverse posterizing dunk.

Wayland outscored Randall 60–10 in the paint and held the Saints to 33% shooting from the field. The Pioneers also dominated the glass, finishing with a 68–21 rebounding advantage, which led to 20 second-chance points.

Offensively, Wayland shot 49% from the field, despite a cold night from three-point range (2-for-16). The Pioneers' size and depth made the difference, with 45 points coming from the bench and 24 points off turnovers.

Randall hung close early, trailing just 37–27 at halftime thanks to strong perimeter shooting from Carson Thomas, who led the Saints with 12 points, and Anthony Garrett-Town, who added 11. But the second half was all Wayland, as Woods and Logan powered a 53-point surge while the defense limited Randall to just 25 points.

Wayland's biggest lead came in the final minute at 90–52, punctuated by a fast-break dunk from Logan that brought the crowd to its feet.

The Pioneers return to action on Friday, November 14th, when they host Northern New Mexico College at the Hutcherson Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
