Bethany, Okla. --- The Pioneers use 39 runs to dominate Southwestern Christian and complete the three-game sweep to move to 8-4 in Sooner Athletic Conference play through three series. The Pioneers won 24-13 in game one and followed that with a 15-5 win in game two.

GAME ONE

Game one between the Pioneers and Eagles was an absolute rollercoaster that featured about all you can imagine in a baseball game. It started with Southwestern Christian jumping out to a commanding 8-0 lead after the bottom of the 1st inning.

The Pioneers answered back in the top of the 2nd with a big offensive inning that started with Brayden Peyton making it 8-1 after driving an RBI single to center. Christian Toledo followed two batters later with a bases-loaded walk that made it 8-2. Sinclair Pimentel then made it 8-3 after scampering home on a passed ball. Felix Polanco capped off the five-run inning for the Pioneers with a two-run double that made it 8-5, Eagles.

Riley Watson trimmed the Pioneers deficit to just one run in the top of the 3rd after smashing a two-run single to make it 8-7, SCU. Toledo then evened the score up at 8-8 after scoring Watson with an RBI triple. Cooper Jauz continued the Pioneer 3rd inning hit parade by smoking an RBI single to push them ahead, 9-8. The final blow of the inning came off the bat of Samuel Fabian as he crushed a three-run bomb to center – his 11th home run of the season – to give the Pioneers a 12-8 lead.

Southwestern Christian battled back in the bottom of the 4th inning with four runs to even the score up at 12-12. The tie didn't last long as the Pioneer offense erupted again in the top of the 5th four more runs.

Cooper Jauz made it 13-12 after driving another RBI single. Fabian followed three batters later with another RBI single to make it 14-12. Pimentel then drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 15-12. Peyton capped off the four-run inning with a sacrifice fly to make it 16-12, Pioneers.

The Eagles continued to keep pace with the Pioneers as they scored another run in their half of the 5th to make it 16-13.

In the top of the 6th, the Pioneers matched the Eagles first-inning run total (8) by scoring eight runs of their own to deliver the dagger to the SCU. The huge inning started with Delvis Claudio smashing a two-run blast to left – his 12th home run of the season – to push the Pioneers ahead, 18-13. Two batters later, Polanco drove an RBI triple to right and would later score on a wild pitch to give the Pioneers a 20-13 lead. Pimentel kept the hits coming as he smacked an RBI single to right to make it 21-13. The massive 6th inning would finally end after Claudio knocked in another run followed by a two-run single from Jauz to make it 24-13. Justin Smith slammed the door on the Eagles and secured the wild 24-13 win in game one for the Pioneers.

Fabian finished 2 for 4 with a home run, four RBIs, four runs scored, a walk, and a hit by pitch. Jauz went 3 for 5 with four RBIs, two runs scored, and a hit by pitch. Claudio finished 2 for 5 with a home run, two RBIs, two runs scored, and a hit by pitch. Polanco went 3 for 6 with a triple, a double, three RBIs, and two runs scored. GAME TWO

Game two was the opposite of a rollercoaster – the Pioneers dominated from start to finish. Wayland Baptist opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd, and they opened the scoring in a big way.

Riley Watson drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single to give the Pioneers an early 1-0 lead. Toledo followed up with an RBI double to score Watson and make it 2-0, Pioneers. Claudio then extended the Pioneer lead to 3-0 after driving in Toledo with an RBI single to left. Polanco added another run with an RBI single to left to give Wayland Baptist a 4-0 lead. Once again, Fabian delivered the big blow of the inning – this time crushing a three-run bomb to left for his 12th home run of the season to give the Pioneers a 7-0 lead.

The Pioneers loaded the bases again in the top of the 3rd, and Jauz continued outstanding afternoon by clearing the bases with a three-run double to make it 10-0, WBU. With runners on first and second, Fabian stepped into the box again and mimicked his previous at-bat – obliterating another three-run home run for his 2nd home run of the game, 3rd home on the afternoon, and 13th of the season to give the Pioneers a commanding 13-0 lead over the Eagles.

Wayland Baptist added one more run on the top of the 4th after an Eagle balk allowed Toledo to walk in from third to make it 14-0. The Eagles finally got something going offensively in the bottom of the 4th and scored four runs to make it 14-4, Pioneers.

The Eagles added one more run in the bottom of the 5th, but the Pioneers got that run back in the top of the 8th after Vann Johnson scurried home on a wild pitch to make it 15-5. The Pioneers wouldn't allow the Eagles to score another run, and they secured the 15-5 win in game two to clinch the sweep of Saturday's doubleheader, and the sweep of this three-game set against Southwestern Christian.

Fabian went 2 for 5 with two 3-run home runs. Jauz went 1 for 4 with a double, three RBIs, a walk, and two runs scored. Pimentel finished 3 for 4 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored. Toledo went 1 for 3 with a double, an RBI, two walks, and three runs scored.
