Lewiston --- The 2-seed Pioneers fell short 9-1 to the 3-seed and host Lewis-Clark State College in the opener of the 2025 NAIA Baseball Championships Opening Rounds presented by Avista.

Lewis-Clark State jumped out to an early 2-0 after scratching a run across in each of the first two innings of play.

Sinclair Pimentel got the Pioneers on the board in the bottom of the 2
nd for their lone run on the afternoon, an opposite-field blast – his 4
th home run this season – to trim the Pioneer deficit to 2-1.

The Warriors gradually built their lead over the Pioneers throughout the game, and ultimately went on to defeat the Pioneers 9-1 in their first game of the 2025 NAIA Baseball Opening Rounds presented by Avista.

The Warrior pitching staff kept the Pioneer offense in check this afternoon, only allowing three hits from Wayland Baptist in the game.
Sinclair Pimentel went 1 for 2 with a solo home run and a walk.
Felix Polanco finished 1 for 4 with a double.
Delvis Claudio went 1 for 3 with a single and a walk.

Despite the Warrior offense doing some early damage to the Pioneer pitchers, junior
Collin Arnold was solid in his 3.2 innings in relief. Arnold only allowed one run on two hits, limiting the Warrior offense to lots of soft contact.

The Pioneers will now play the 5-seed Dickinson State Blue Hawks tomorrow, May 13
th, at 1:00 PM CST. The loser of this game will be eliminated from the 2025 NAIA Baseball Championships, while the winner will advance to play at 6:00 PM later that night in another elimination game.
