Top-Seeded Pioneers Fall to 3-Seed Drovers in Winner's Bracket Game, Face MACU in Elimination Game Next

Chickasha, Okla. --- The 1-seed Pioneers suffered a tough 6-3 loss to the 3-seed Drovers of Science and Arts (Okla.) for their first loss of the 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference Baseball Championship.

Wayland Baptist opened the scoring in the top of the 2^nd in this winner's bracket battle after a sacrifice fly from Sinclair Pimentel made it 1-0. Brayden Peyton followed next with a two-run bomb – his 7^th home run of the season- to push the Pioneers ahead 3-0.
 
The Drovers answered back with two runs in the bottom of the 2^nd to trim their deficit to just one run.
 
USAO had a big bottom of the 4^th at the dish and scored three runs on three hits to jump ahead of the Pioneers, 5-3.
 
The Drovers added a big insurance run in the bottom of the 8^th to extend their lead to 6-3 and put the Pioneers on the brink of defeat.
 
The Pioneers got the tying-run to the plate, but they were unable to score any runs and suffered the 6-3 loss to the Drovers.
 
Peyton led the Pioneers offensively going 2 for 4 with a single and a two-run home run. Pimentel went 1 for 4 with a sacrifice fly. Samuel Fabian went 2 for 2 with two singles, a walk, a stolen base, a hit by pitch, and a run scored.

The Pioneers will now play an elimination game against the 2-seed Evangels of Mid-America Christian University on Sunday, May 4^th at 1:00 PM. The winner of this game will advance to the 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference Baseball Championship series against Science and Arts (Okla.).
