PINEVILLE, LA -- Wayland Baptist nearly pulled off a stunning road victory Saturday night, but a late rally wasn't enough as the Pioneers fell, 43-37, to Louisiana Christian on the road.

After trailing 21-10 at halftime, the Pioneers roared back behind explosive plays and a resilient defense that forced three interceptions and returned a fumble 83 yards for a touchdown.
Quarterback
Khalon Davis led the way through the air, throwing for 238 yards and three touchdowns, including a 79-yard strike to
Keamodre Horace in the fourth quarter. Horace finished with four catches for 91 yards. Davis also connected twice with
Damon Ford, who turned in a stellar all-around performance.

Ford rushed 19 times for 109 yards and a touchdown, while also catching three passes for 59 yards and two scores. He even added a 33-yard completion through the air.
Big-Time Plays on Defense
The Pioneer defense produced game-changing moments.
Isaiah Brooks and
Tyrone Morgan each picked off LCU quarterback Bryce Perkins, while
Kacen Anthony delivered the defensive play of the night, scooping up a fumble and racing 83 yards for a touchdown to give WBU a 37-30 lead with 5:55 left.

Brooks paced the defense with 12 total tackles, including two tackles for loss, while
Daniel Mendietta and
X'Zavion Williams added sacks.
The Final Minutes
After Anthony's fumble return, Louisiana Christian answered with back-to-back touchdowns in the final five minutes to reclaim the lead. WBU's last drive stalled after an interception with under a minute to play, sealing the six-point setback.
