Pioneers Pick Up Dominant 87-61 Road Win at SCU

BETHANY, Okla. --- The Pioneers delivered one of their most complete performances of the season on Saturday afternoon, rolling past the Southwestern Christian Eagles 87–61 on the road in Bethany, Oklahoma.

Wayland set the tone early and never looked back, jumping out to a dominant start behind strong defensive pressure and efficient offense. The Pioneers built a 45–31 halftime advantage and continued to apply pressure in the second half, outscoring Southwestern Christian 42–30 to secure the convincing victory.

Jordan Logan and Jamari Lawrence led the way offensively, each scoring 15 points to pace the Pioneers. Logan filled the stat sheet with seven rebounds and strong perimeter defense, while Lawrence added seven boards, five assists, and three blocks to anchor both ends of the floor. Marcus Green followed closely with 13 points, knocking down key shots and contributing three steals, while Brett Leach added 12 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Wayland's depth proved to be a major factor, as the bench poured in 48 points and maintained the team's intensity throughout the contest. Chuks Ejiofor recorded 11 points and six rebounds in the paint, Dylan McDougal added 11 points and steady playmaking, and Niels Guinchard contributed seven points and five rebounds in limited minutes. The balanced effort showcased the Pioneers' versatility and unselfish style of play.

Defensively, Wayland was just as impressive, forcing 19 turnovers and converting them into 23 points. The Pioneers held Southwestern Christian to 39.3 percent shooting from the field and limited their opportunities in the paint. Strong rebounding and disciplined team defense allowed Wayland to control the tempo from start to finish.

Offensively, the Pioneers shot an outstanding 57.9 percent from the floor and 42.1 percent from beyond the arc, consistently finding quality looks through ball movement and aggressive drives. Wayland also dominated inside, scoring 48 points in the paint and keeping constant pressure on the Eagles' defense.

With the win, Wayland Baptist improved to 20–6 overall and 14–6 in conference play, continuing its strong push toward postseason play.

The Pioneers will host the Science & Arts Drovers on Thursday, February 14th, at 8:00 PM inside the Hutcherson Center.
