CHICKASHA, Okla. -- The Wayland Baptist Pioneers faced a tough road test on Thursday evening, dropping both games of a doubleheader against #8 Science and Arts in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Game 1: Science and Arts 8, Wayland Baptist 0 (5 innings)
Wayland Baptist struggled to generate offense in the opener, managing just three hits in an 8-0 loss.
The Pioneers threatened early, highlighted by a second-inning double from
Yaneli Jaramillo and a single from
Brooke McLaurin in the third, but were unable to push a run across. The Drovers capitalized on their opportunities, beginning with a solo home run in the first inning before breaking the game open with a three-run fourth and a four-run fifth.
Jaramillo, McLaurin, and
Kynleigh Kirby each recorded a hit for Wayland Baptist, accounting for the team's three total hits.
In the circle,
Logan Schultz took the loss after allowing six runs (four earned) over 4.1 innings of work.
Erin Trevino came on in relief. Defensive miscues proved costly, as three Pioneer errors contributed to multiple unearned runs.

Game 2: Science and Arts 10, Wayland Baptist 0 (5 innings)
The nightcap followed a similar script, as the Pioneers were held to just two hits in a 10-0 defeat.
Kailee Sanchez and
Yaneli Jaramillo accounted for Wayland's only hits, while the offense drew four walks but could not convert those opportunities into runs.
The Drovers jumped ahead early with a three-run first inning and added three more in the second. A four-run fourth inning, aided by defensive errors, put the game out of reach.
Kynleigh Kirby was charged with the loss after surrendering six runs (three earned) in two innings.
Brooke McLaurin and
Isabella Penk provided relief appearances, combining to finish the game.
Defensively, the Pioneers committed four errors, leading to several unearned runs and extending innings for the opposition.
