Wayland Baptist opened the day in a tight contest but couldn't overcome an early deficit, falling 3-1 to Texas Wesleyan.
The Rams struck early with single runs in each of the first three innings, building a 3-0 lead while keeping the Pioneers' offense in check. Despite several opportunities, Wayland Baptist managed just five hits against Texas Wesleyan pitcher Kylie Barnes, who went the distance.
Yaneli Jaramillo led the Pioneers at the plate with two hits, while
Berkley Bradley added a hit and scored the lone run. Wayland Baptist finally broke through in the seventh inning, stringing together three hits and pushing across a run on an RBI groundout by

With the tying run left on base, the late rally fell short.
Kynleigh Kirby took the loss in the circle, allowing three runs over five innings of work.
Game 2: Langston 5, Wayland Baptist 2
Facing elimination, the Pioneers jumped out to an early lead but couldn't hold off Langston in a 5-2 loss in the second game of the day.
Wayland Baptist came out strong, scoring twice in the first inning behind RBI hits from
Berkley Bradley and
Kynleigh Kirby to take a 2-0 advantage.
Langston responded steadily, scoring in four consecutive innings to take control. A two-run fourth inning, aided by a Pioneer error, proved to be the turning point as Langston moved ahead for good.
The Pioneers collected eight hits in the contest, with
Mikayla Carrillo recording two and both Bradley and Kirby driving in runs. However, Wayland Baptist was unable to capitalize on multiple scoring opportunities, leaving eight runners on base.
Logan Schultz went 6.2 innings in the circle, allowing five runs (four earned) in the loss.
