Associate head coach Brett Cook was promoted from assistant coach prior to the 2022 season.

Cook is Wayland Baptist’s all-time hitting leader, wrapping up his three-year stint at WBU with a career batting average of .426. The 2009 NAIA 1st team All-American and second baseman held eight Pioneer batting records at the end of his career and is a two-time All-Sooner Athletic Conference honoree.
 
The 2009 SAC Gold Glove winner is among the top five career record holders for runs scored (209), hits (269), RBIs (152), homeruns (41) and doubles (50). Cook also holds the record for highest career batting average (.426) and slugging percentage (.731). He established new season marks for hits (107) and runs scored (88) in 2009. He is also the school single-game record holder for doubles (3) and home runs (3).
 
A native of Kearny, Ariz., Cook transferred to Wayland from Lamar Community College. He spent his first two years as a graduate assistant coach for the Pioneers, serving as head coach of the junior varsity program before becoming an assistant coach in the spring of 2011. Cook and his wife Brandi were married in July 2009.
