Josh Bailey was named assistant coach at Wayland prior to the 2018 season after playing for the Pioneers for four years and after serving as a graduate assistant coach for two. A native of Lovington, N.M., where he helped win three state championships and was all-state, Bailey – a receiver – was a freshman at Wayland when the football program was revived in 2012. Over the next four years, he played in 38 games for the Pioneers, catching 94 passes for 1,099 yards and nine touchdowns. As a junior he caught 37 passes for 522 yards and four TDs.

Coach Bailey oversees tight ends and the field goal unit and serves as recruiting visit coordinator. Also Wayland's Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsor, Josh is married to Hannah Bailey.
