A 2011 graduate of Texas Tech University, Tyler Duggins attended Iowa Park (Texas) High School where he earned All-District honors as a junior, was named Offensive MVP of the Wichita Falls Area Team and a Texas Top 100 selection as a senior.

Duggins received a full athletic scholarship at TTU as an offensive lineman, but a physical problem put an early end to his playing career.  He then turned to coaching, serving as a student assistant coach for the Red Raiders.
