Kyler Shula, from Puyallup, Wash., joined the Pioneer basketball staff as graduate assistant for the 2019-20 season.
 
Shula played basketball two years at both Portland State University (Ore.), where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, and Ambrose University in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies. A point guard, Shula was a two-time ACAC (Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference) all-conference honoree and received the esteemed All-Canadian honor.
 
Shula served as an assistant coach for two years at Ambrose prior to coming to Wayland.
