Landon Hughey

Landon Hughey was named assistant men’s basketball coach for the Pioneers in 2015, joining the staff with an impressive resume. As an assistant coach at Fort Scott Community College (Kan.), Hughey helped lead the Greyhounds to a third-place finish in Region VI and a home playoff game for only the second time in school history.  At FSCC, Hughey oversaw individual workouts, study hall, and strength and conditioning.

Previous to FSCC, Coach Hughey spent two seasons as the director of basketball operations and video coordinator at Northern Arizona University. At NAU, Hughey assisted the head coach in managing and coordinating all aspects of the basketball program.

Prior to his stint at NAU, Hughey served as a graduate assistant with the Arizona State University basketball team from 2010-12. At ASU, he was involved with daily operations of the basketball program and assisted in player development.

Before joining the Sun Devils, Hughey was a student manager for the University of Oklahoma basketball team from 2006-10, which included Blake Griffin’s all-American career with the Sooners, as well as a run to the Elite Eight in the 2008-09 season.  At Oklahoma, Hughey assisted in the daily operation of practice and other duties within the program.

Hughey graduated with his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Oklahoma in May 2010 and earned his master’s degree in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Arizona State University in May 2012.

Hughey and wife Jennifer, who have two daughters, are originally from El Reno, Okla.
