Former Texas state champion Mason Garrett transferred to Wayland in 2022 from NCAA Division II Midwestern State University, where she played golf the previous two years, notching several top 20 finishes and a top-10.

During her prep career, Garrett was a dual state champion at Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill High School. Prior to the cancellation of her senior season in 2020 due to COVID, she was a three-time Class 3A state qualifier, finishing eighth as a freshman and claiming the bronze medal as a sophomore. As a junior in 2019, Garrett shot 76-75 to win the 3A state championship by six strokes. She also won three district titles and two regional titles.

Garrett also enjoyed a stellar high school basketball career. She was part of the 2019 3A state championship team that posted a remarkable 37-0 record. She holds four national records for 3-point shooting and is a two-time TABC 3-point shooting winner.

Academically, Garrett received one of five MSU Redwine Presidential Scholarships awarded each year. She was named to the MSU President's Honor Roll and Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll each of her four semesters with a 4.0 GPA. Garrett was one of five members selected to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team for 2021-22.

Garrett's father, Matt, the WBU golf coach, said Mason "is incredibly smart and an incredibly-gifted athlete. She has had success at the highest levels both athletically and academically. She is just one of those types of people who is enjoyable to be around and is friends with everyone."
