Two-time Missouri state champion and three-time Academic All-American Colton Schmitz is assistant wrestling coach for the Pioneers. A native of Kirksville, Mo., Colton graduated from Kirksville Senior High School where he compiled 159 wins, finishing third in the state as a freshman, second as a sophomore, and first as a junior and senior. He attended Truman State University, an NCAA Division II school in Kirksville, and was a three-year team captain. He recorded 95 victories and qualified for the NCAA Division II National Tournament at 157 pounds, just one match away from earning all-American honors. A three-time Academic All-American, Colton earned his degree in Exercise Science, finishing with a 3.6 GPA. He enjoys exercising, weightlifting, being outdoors, playing sports, hunting, fishing and listening to music.
