Why did you choose to come to Wayland and represent the Pioneers? I came to Wayland to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, and secondly, to compete in the sport of wrestling because it is my passion. Thirdly, I came to make my family proud.
How did you get started wrestling and how old were you? My dad and uncle are the ones that got me into wrestling around age four or five. After about 10 years, I started to realize we were pretty good at wrestling, and have stuck with it ever since.
What has been your proudest athletic achievement to date? I would have to say for myself it would be getting 288 take downs in one season, but my proudest moment of athletic achievements would have to be when I got the opportunity to coach/watch my little cousin win his first state championship title.
What do you feel like you bring to your team, both athletically and personally? Athletically I’m not the most talented person, but I make up for it in hard work and conditioning. Personally, I think about the whole team and what’s best as a group instead of just myself.
What are you goals for the future after college? I want to become a high school teacher and once I do that then become a head wrestling coach one day. Obviously I want to have a family, a house, and just a little bit of land to go hunting and fishing on.
