Marcos Hinojos enters his 11th at Wayland and his 4th year as the head football coach at Wayland Baptist University. Hinojos has been part of the Wayland football staff since 2015, initially serving as the linebackers coach before being elevated to defensive coordinator and eventually head coach.
A 1986 graduate of Lorenzo High School, Hinojos played middle linebacker at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, N.M., from 1986-91.
Before joining Wayland, Hinojos spent 23 years as a defensive coordinator at Lubbock Coronado, Wichita Falls Rider, Plainview, Kermit and Fort Stockton high schools. He also served as the offensive coordinator at Lorenzo High School and spent four years as the athletics director and head football coach at Plainview High School.
Hinojos and his wife, Jessica, have three children. Their son Jacob is married to Summer, and they have two children, Olivia and Saige. Their son Marcos Jr. is married to Sayra, and they have two children, Adaly and Luna. Hinojos also has a daughter, Alexa. All three of Hinojos' children are Wayland Baptist University graduates.
