Shelley, a sophomore from Idalou who has made 29 starts in 34 appearances, helped the No. 8 Flying Queens win the NAIA National Championship Opening Round hosted by Wayland. In an 89-68 semifinal win over Our Lady of the Lake University, Shelley contributed nine points, six assists, a pair of rebounds and a steal. She was 4-of-7 from the field, including a 3-pointer. Then in the team's 99-85 win over 19th-ranked Lewis-Clark St. (Idaho) in the finals, Shelley finished with 11 points (her second-highest total of the season), four rebounds and four assists. She was 4-of-4 from the field and 3-of-5 from the free-throw line.
The No. 8 Flying Queens next play No. 10 Rocky Mountain College (Mont.) at 8 p.m. Thursday in the round of 16 in Sioux City, Iowa.
