So far, WBU fans know Nina Sato for playing basketball for the Flying Queens. They’ll quickly come to know her for her high-jumping skills. At her first collegiate track & field meet Saturday in Lubbock at the Texas Tech Open, Sato cleared 5 feet, 7¼ inches, the NAIA’s third-best high jump this season. The 6-foot-2 freshman from El Paso finished second out of nine entrants, matching the winning height. "After just a week-and-a-half of practice (due to playing basketball), for her to come out and jump 1.71 meters is pretty outstanding. It just shows her athletic ability. I think she can finish in the top three at nationals. We're excited the direction she's going."
