Tamyra Mensah moved one step closer to qualifying for the 2016 Olympics by winning the 69-kilogram class at the U.S. Senior Nationals in Las Vegas. She won her first three matches by technical fall then in the finals defeated Olympic bronze medalist Randi Miller by a 5-2 decision. The win earned Mensah the No. 1 seed for the U.S. Olympic Trials to be held April 8-10 in Iowa City, Iowa. Mensah, was named outstanding wrestler of the entire tournament. Mensah is redshirting at Wayland this academic year while training at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. WBU Coach Aaron Meister: "This will greatly enhance her chance of making the final and ultimately getting her to Rio (de Janeiro) for the 2016 Olympics. It's quite a feat to beat (an Olympic) bronze medalist, and to win outstanding wrestler of the entire tournament is outstanding.” Video
