Back at Wayland after taking a year off to train for the Olympics, picked up right where she left off, going unbeaten on the first full week of the regular-season. The top-ranked 155-pound wrestler in the WCWA won both of her matches by fall against Bacone (Okla.) and Warner Pacific (Ore.) then took first place at the Blue Chip OCU Women’s Open in Oklahoma City where she won six matches in two days. Three of those wins came by pin while two others were by 10-0 technical fall. In the championship, Tamyra dominated 2016 Junior World Team member Rachel Watters of OCU, 9-3. Earlier this week, Tamyra was named USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week.
